In Praise of Plurality

There is evidence that multiculturality hampers economic development (ethnic diversity is shown to lead to corruption, poor quality of government and low redistribution to the poor). Despite this, I find the case for a plural society overwhelmingly convincing: who wouldn’t want to have instant (and free) access to the architecture, food and music of others, all of which have necessitated the accumulation of centuries of human experience?
